The Thompson Leopard has been specifically designed to assist
in the installation of fibre optic cable in the telecommunications
industry.
The pulling force is created by a 760mm capstan head of steel construction
for longevity. The capstan head is connected to the chassis by a
swivelling turret allowing the winch to be positioned at infinite
angles from the line of pull.
Line tension adjustable at the control station, from O - 500 kg
thus protecting the cable from damage during installation. A dial
readout is fitted for monitoring of the line pull.
The Leopard is fitted with a rope coiling head for take
up of pulling ropes.
The Leopard is powered by a 13 HP petrol engine power pack complete
with integral hydraulic pump, oil and Fuel tanks and oil cooler
to allow constant running throughout the working day.
The whole unit is mounted on a substantial steel box section chassis,
galvanised to give corrosion free use over many years. The chassis
is fitted with stabilising jacks, a single axle, tow coupling with
overrun brakes, jockey wheel and full road going lighting, complying
with the latest EEC Regulations.
